Photoshoot is done (see the backstage pic below! The pics will come with the new webpage!) and artwork is in full progress.
But first some travel news:
After arriving in Istanbul, I first had to fix my piano that had suffered some damage from the journey.
It's always exciting to unpack my little fellow and look for what mark the journey has left. It already accompanied me to many, many places. Let's see if you can find it in between the first pictures I uploaded onto this blog!
But it's a tough cookie and with a little help from my friends I was soon able to sing, compose, jam and play over the rooftops of Istanbul!
There was surely enough inspiration! Just read on!
After repairs were done, I met my good friend Okan Bayülgen and joined him backstage at a television show he is producing right now here in turkey.
I love live shows in turkey, it's crowed and crazy, but in a good way, people are working
their asses off, but no one is too busy to spare a nice hello or have a small chat. And Okan's crew is simply adorable.
Further I managed to get some pics back I did with Okan some time ago. I lost them when I had a computer headcrash earlier this year. He had done huuuge prints of them and they were hanging in a Mall here in turkey. Here are some to get an idea (copyright: Alev Lenz):
During the Istanbul International Jazz week I was able to see the shows of Tower of Power, Marcus Miller and Rufus Wainwright, who played at an incredible location on the historic peninsula of Istanbul. Here's a pic for you:
I was also able to see a concert of Alanis Morissette, who was playing at MASSTIVAL, a festival in the woods that was taking place along with the Jazz week.
As you can see and read, Istanbul is full of music!!!
And last but not least, here are some pics from my concert in Munich in June! I am playing one last concert this Tuesday in Munich before I get all focused on making the final preparations to promote the album, set the release date and enjoy summer with my friends, with writing and preparing my tour.
